Scott Winkler, a 2008 draft pick of the Dallas Stars and four-year player at Colorado College, has died at the age of 23.
The news was announced by the school.
Winkler was found at his parents' home in Norway on Wednesday night when his mom returned home from work, according to the Colorado Springs Gazette. The cause of his death is not known.
The Stars selected Winkler in the third-round of the 2008 draft (No. 89 overall). He spent the past four seasons at Colorado College, where his numbers steadily improved every season. In 2012-13 he finished with 13 goals and 15 assists in 42 games. -
